Who We Are
I have been selling books since I was 17 and I am grateful to all those who hired me and gave me opportunities to work in a world full of books. If time could be marked by the books we read, then my first bookselling experience was where I read just about every book by Kurt Vonnegut, at my next bookselling adventure I learned to read Gabriel Garcia-Marquez and it followed with my last bookstore job where I discovered my absolute love for children’s books. All I ever wanted to do was to share my love of books. I am so happy that I get to continue sharing this love at Express Booksellers with our clients and partners.
The EBS family is close and dear to my heart! You will always find them with a smiling face and with a compassionate demeanor ready to help you when they can. Everyone always makes you feel like you belong and are a part of something special. I absolutely LOVE it here. When I’m not with my EBS family, I am acting and performing on stage or working on a show behind the mic. In my spare time, I enjoy being at home watching tv shows and movies or cuddled up on the couch, with a book in hand, and my kitty at my side. I also really enjoy traveling and going to pop-culture conventions!
There comes great pride and satisfaction in working for a company as great as EBS. With multiple clients and millions of books, we get a chance to impact the world positively through our hard work, dedication and love of education. Reading has always been a great joy in my life, and I hope it can positively impact the next generation as much as it did for me. When I am not at work, I enjoy snuggling with my cat, seeing old friends, and going on hikes!
When I’m not working at EBS I love to read and hang out with friends where we are most likely to be found playing some sort of tabletop RPG. My love for stories doesn’t stop there because I also love listening to audio drama podcasts, audiobooks, and musical theater soundtracks. It has been so welcoming here and I am very grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me.
I love geeking out about Spanish titles when quoting for clients and working on contracts for districts we have never worked with before. While working here at EBS, I have enjoyed seeing all of the great ideas our clients have about what they want to teach and expose their students to through books. It is awesome to be a part of a team of people from all around North Texas and beyond. We all come to EBS with the appreciation of how powerful books can be in the lives of young people.
As a newly inducted member of the sandwich generation, I am finding that my days fly by! I sincerely enjoy working with everyone at EBS; they are good people with great hearts. I love spending time with my four kids, listening to audiobooks, and hanging out with my husband. I’m a foodie and may be the only person alive allergic to working out. I’m learning to manage my elderly parent’s needs and those of my family’s. I patiently await my certificate of membership in the mail.
When I’m not managing EBS and other business interests, I love spending time with my wife and teenage kids in our adopted city of Portland, OR. We have deep professional and family connections in Texas, and I am blessed to have many opportunities throughout the year to spend time in the Dallas office with our incredible staff. I have a passion for working with non-profits, and am proud that our companies and employees embrace giving back to the local community through volunteering and philanthropy.
Giving Back
EBS is a proud sponsor of the annual North Texas Giving Day matching event held at Metropolitan Press each September. We contribute to a pool of matching funds, allowing every non-profit donation made onsite to be matched dollar for dollar on North Texas Giving Day. What an incredible event and a big day of giving for our local non-profit community!
We also make donations to schools and other organizations, and spend time volunteering in the local community. We are passionate about giving back.
